Universal Music Publishing Group China (UMPG China) announced that hit singer-songwriter WAVEBOY has signed an exclusive global administration deal with UMPG China.

Recently, UMPG China stated on their official social media: "He is a songwriter with both aesthetics and talent... We warmly welcome WAVEBOY to join the Universal Music Publishing family in China."

According to previous media reports, WAVEBOY is the lyricist of Hua Chenyu's hit song and the first international release single "For Forever", which since release has become a favorite among Hua Cheyu fans who even went on to nickname the song "Hua Hua Loves Me". As one of Hua Chenyu's most popular songs, "For Forever" was performed at the 2020-2021 Hunan TV New Year's Eve Gala pleasing many fans around the world.

In addition, WAVEBOY previously collaborated with KOSEN, a member of the Japanese group Beatmoss, to release the EP album "The Greatest Thing". The two collaborative tracks in this EP album were released on the well-known Japanese music label Space Shower Music. In the past, WAVEBOY has also joined hands with well-known Chinese lyricist Dai Yuedong to write lyrics for the song "Baby Girl" of the first EP of Young G, a finalist of Hunan TV's Super Boy.

With this announcement, Universal Music Publishing's agreement with WAVEBOY may increase fans' speculation about the imminent release of WAVEBOY's first full album. A report in late 2020 claimed that its new album would be a vaporwave retro-inspired pop release (similar to the previously released EP "The Greatest Thing" in Japan) but no further details have been provided. It is only revealed that WAVEBOY has cooperated with Billboard China and Yuehua Music before for music releases. As for the new album, we can only standby and wait for an official announcement.
